Cafe Stevens in Amsterdam

Cafe Stevens is located at the Nieuwmarkt, the big square next to the Red Light District.

Cafe Stevens is a brown cafe with an informal aftmosphere, so it makes you feel comfortable after one step in the door. If you want to get  breakfast, lunch, snacks or dinner: Stevens is serving it! And its quality it pretty good too, especially the lunch sandwiches which are very tasty and affordable. Cafe Stevens  also offers a nice assortiment of fair-priced beers. You won’t find Duvel beer anywhere cheaper, not even in its homeland Belgium!

Inside is a long bar, so chances are high you’ll find a spot to lean on, while having a midnight beer and chat with your friends. During daytime, the tables at the window are a perfect spot to read the newspaper. Or you could just enjoy the wonderful view of the Waag and the Nieuwmarkt.

During the night, mostly locals come here for a drink. As the music gets a bit louder during the night, some will even get there dance on.  Fortunately, it’s never too noisy so you can still have a conversation. And last but not least, service is pretty good thanks to its friendly staff.

We found this place purely by chance whilst on a short break in Amsterdam, and we loved it! There’s a good selection of beers and the sandwiches are delicious and very good value. Service is friendly and attentive. We liked it so much we came back again the next day!
